Performance evaluations can sound like a scary process to go through but luckily, they don’t have to be so here are some tips on how to best prepare for your performance evaluations:
During your first or second week, make sure you have a clear understanding of how you will be evaluated; this can be discussed with your manager in your initial 1:1s. Having a clear understanding of your expectations will set you up for success!
Feedback should never be a surprise to you, constantly seek feedback from peers and managers in your 1:1s so that when evaluations come, think of it as an official write-up of the feedback you have been receiving.
Your manager and peers will not know your day-to-day accomplishments. So, make sure that you are discussing all of the amazing things you are working on or have done so that they are aware.
When going through evaluations, you most likely will have to do a self-evaluation. Having a list of all of your accomplishments, responsibilities, and any challenges you faced and how you overcame them will help you with most self-evaluation prompts.
